Everything I need to learn, I learned from my kids, part XXXXV

Posted on Sunday 19 March 2006

I took Bookzilla and JMan to the Space Needle on Sunday. The miracle of being able to see for miles was lost on them, but not on me. If I ever get into the habit of using mind altering substances, I want to take them up there. The insignificance of a single person is very apparent when I look out from there. They were bored in just a few minutes, but I managed to get two laps of the observation deck with them. JMan was hungry, so we repaired to the Seattle Center House and the food court there. After some really crappy pizza, we headed toward the Pacific Science Center. Bookzilla and JMan with their balloons

A man was making balloon animals there, with no set price, just a donation for the Center House. After being stung for $28 to ride to the top of the Space Needle and $5 for crappy pizza and a soda, I was not in the mood to spend more money. But Bookzilla said that she would spend her money for it. She is saving for an Object Of Great Affection, a Gameboy SP. She said that she would spend $5 from her savings. Most people were donating $1. She is half way to the OOGA, and I wondered why she would donate $5 for a balloon animal. She said that “it was a cool place, why not?”

Why not, indeed. I decided to cough up the $5 myself and take a lesson in generosity from my daughter.

That is a picture of them in front of the donations box.
