Horse to water

Posted on Thursday 17 July 2008

There is a saying that you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink. George Harrison wrote a song about it and Sam Brown sings it like only she can sing it.

Aside from my crush on Sam Brown, many people know that if you want to make that horse drink, all you need to do is put a salt lick next to the water. That horse will drink. Trust me on that.

Call Obama a salt lick. He has said what he wants to do and he keeps saying it, without regard to what the chattering classes say. He said that he would talk to Iran. The chowderheads of the right talked about capitulation, but Obama stuck to his guns and said that talking was not capitulation. Negotiation was not capitulation.

And lookee-here.

The US plans to establish a diplomatic presence in Tehran for the first time in 30 years as part of a remarkable turnaround in policy by President George Bush.

The Guardian has learned that an announcement will be made in the next month to establish a US interests section – a halfway house to setting up a full embassy. The move will see US diplomats stationed in the country.

I wonder what the chowderheads will say about that.
