Long story, short

Posted on Saturday 18 April 2009

One of my favorite episodes of “The Twilight Zone” is “Mr. Garrity and the Graves“.  In this episode, a guy shows up in an old Western town, claiming he can raise the dead.  He takes money from people to bring their loved ones back to life.  After some reflection, the people realize that the dead they talk about reverently were not so nice and are soon paying Mr. Garrity to keep them dead.  I remember one hen-pecked man in particular, because when Mr. Garrity leaves town, the dead are actually brought back to life and are headed to the town saloon.  The hen-pecked man’s rather beefy wife is getting ready to give him a beat down.

I was thinking about the image of that woman when I read that Rush had slapped himself, mocking the torture that our people administered.  The woman was sliding her sleeves up and getting ready to get down.  I think that Rush needs to let someone else do the job.  Like me.  Or maybe some of the people who were tortured.

Here’s the audio.
